Trauma-Informed Somatic Movement
Trauma-Informed Somatic Movement
For Individuals Seeking Body Based Healing
Service Description
These one-on-one trauma-informed somatic movement sessions offer a supportive, integrative space for individuals seeking healing from chronic stress or anxiety, grief, sexual trauma, medical trauma, and challenges with intimacy. Rooted in both principals of nervous system regulation and somatic yoga practices, sessions are designed to support body awareness, and a gradual restoration of safety and trust within the body. Trauma and prolonged stress often impact the body as much as the mind. Through slow, mindful, and choice-based movement, we gently explore patterns of tension, protection, and holding—without pressure to revisit or recount past experiences. Emphasis is placed on present-moment sensation, pacing, and self-agency, allowing the body to guide the process. Sessions may include subtle somatic movement, breath awareness, grounding practices, and rest. Touch is not used unless clearly discussed and consented to in advance. The work is collaborative and responsive, honoring each client’s boundaries, lived experience, and readiness. This approach can be especially supportive for individuals navigating: • Chronic stress, anxiety, or nervous system dysregulation • Grief and loss • Sexual trauma or challenges with intimacy • Medical trauma or body-based fear responses No prior yoga or movement experience is necessary. Each session is individualized, trauma-sensitive, and aligned with therapeutic goals, offering a compassionate pathway toward greater embodiment, regulation, and resilience. Important Note: These trauma-informed somatic movement sessions are facilitated by a trauma-informed somatic movement practitioner and are not psychotherapy. The practitioner is not acting in the role of a licensed mental health therapist, and these sessions are not intended to diagnose or treat mental health conditions. Somatic movement work may be used as a complementary, body-based support alongside psychotherapy, medical care, or other healing modalities. Clients are encouraged to seek support from a licensed healthcare or mental health professional as needed.
